MIAMI -- Desert Mountain Media, a Phoenix-based home entertainment and multimedia company, is launching a Latin Cinema Collection aimed at U.S. Hispanics.
The first three releases are all from Mexican helmers: Arturo Ripstein's "El Imperio de la Fortuna," from 1985; Rafael Montero's 1997 hit "Cilantro y Perejil" (Recipes for Staying Together); and "Angel de fuego," which was part of the official selection for Directors Fortnight at Cannes in 1992.
All will be marketed in the original Spanish language with English subtitles and using bilingual packaging and DVD menus. The films were digitally restored from the original film negatives.
The collection will include classic and contemporary pics: Over the next six months, Desert Media will release Alfonso Arau's "Like Water for Chocolate" and "Calzonzin Inspector"; Ripstein's "Principio y fin"; Felipe Cazals' "Canoa" and Carlos Carrera's "La Mujer de Benjamin" and "La vida conyugal."
Desert Mountain Media has exclusive U.S. distribution rights for the Latin Cinema Collection.
